Autumn, John & Chris Adopt
- Nathaniel Hawthorne
Hello,
John and Chris here. We’re two dads, raising our daughter, Sara, in Georgia. We love where we live and wanted to continue this blog, in an attempt to paint a picture of our life, as we pursue an open adoption arrangement for the adoption of our second child. We are a loving, happy family of three, and look forward to the day that we can be blessed with a second child.

“We affirm our duty to nourish and nurture the young, to honour their caring ideals as the heart of being human. To recognize the early years as the foundation of life, and to cherish the contribution of young children to human evolution,”
–Raffi

John and Chris Adopt
We ran across this poem on the internet the other day, and thought it would be a great way to start blogging again … hope you enjoy:
“When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator, and I wanted to paint another one.
When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw you feed a stray cat, and I thought it was good to be kind to animals.
When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw you make my favorite cake for me, and I knew that little things are special things.
When you thought I wasn’t looking, I heard you say a prayer,
and I believed there is a God I could always talk to.
When you thought I wasn’t looking, I felt you kiss me goodnight, and I felt loved.
When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw tears come from your eyes, and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it’s all right to cry.
When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw that you cared
and I wanted to be everything that I could be.
When you thought I wasn’t looking, I looked… and wanted to say thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn’t looking.”
Hello all,
Check out our Facebook page to see some new pics of our beautiful daughter, Sara. Sara came into our lives through the process of open adoption. As we are a family waiting to adopt a second child through the same process of open adoption, with a birth mother, we try and update our Facebook now and again. In blogging we’re trying to reach out to let a birthmother know a little more about who we are as a family and as parents.
Thanks for stopping by,
Warmly,
John and Chris

John posted the other day about his take on our “Best Memory This Past Christmas,” and I thought I’d chime in with my thoughts, as well…
Sara’s first Christmas and birthday was special even though she couldn’t appreciate it much yet! Just fun to watch her taking it all in.
In that little mind of hers she’s constantly processing all of the new stuff happening around her! It was also fun to see her dressed up in her red and white Christmas clothes.
Who We Are:
We are John and Chris, and we’re blogging now, to support our open adoption search. We are a loving family of three (John, Chris, and our daughter, Sara) – eagerly ready to adopt a second child. We hope, by blogging, that a special birth mother may get to know who we are a little. Thank you for stopping by, and please take your time, sifting through the (hopefully) fun and enjoyable snapshots of our lives.

Open Adoption, John, Favorite Books
John here. I’m thinking about favorite books growing up. Both Chris and I know and value the importance of books. To have and be surrounded by books is a gift.
One of the great things about where Chris and Sara and I live is that we have a community that supports independent book sellers. Decatur, the town we’re raising our daughter in, has a BIG, annual book fair, complete with food vendors and lots and lots of children’s activities.
What was my favorite book growing up? William Carlos about the “wild west”. I wonder which books Sara will choose as her favorite, as she grows up.
Sincerely,
John

Walking Baby, Birthmother, Child Adopt John Chris
Our daughter, Sara, is now starting to walk, trying to form words, and generally seems to be a pretty happy and content baby. That makes us, as parents, feel like we are taking our responsibility seriously, and listening to some of the experts on best baby raising practices!

John and Chris, Autumn Leaves, Open Adoption
Since adopting our first daughter, Sara, through open adoption, and parenting along this fantastic journey, we get to share traditions with friends and family, in a very special way. Table decorations, a few pumpkins out front, sharing time with friends and family.
We’re looking forward to carving pumpkins as a family, and roasting the pumpkin seeds.
Parenting in Decatur Ga is such a pleasure for us, in part, because we have access to a large food market, called the DeKalb Farmer’s Market. One thing we value as parents is eating well, and cooking and providing, healthy, home cooked, organic meals for our child Sara.
Because we are parents ready to adopt our second child, we anticipate and look forward to the day when we set not just 3 place settings at the dinner table, but four – welcoming a brother or sister for our daughter Sara.
