Open Adoption, Where We Live

Hello,

John and Chris here. We’re two dads, raising our daughter, Sara, in Georgia. We love where we live and wanted to continue this blog, in an attempt to paint a picture of our life, as we pursue an open adoption arrangement for the adoption of our second child. We are a loving, happy family of three, and look forward to the day that we can be blessed with a second child.

“We affirm our duty to nourish and nurture the young, to honour their caring ideals as the heart of being human. To recognize the early years as the foundation of life, and to cherish the contribution of young children to human evolution,”

John and Chris here,

Just read about the extension of sponsorship of Decatur’s (where we work and live as a family) wildly successful, annual book festival. This means that our great community can continue to enjoy, uninterrupted, year after year, (for the next 3 years) the child and family friendly festival. The Decatur Book Festival is a good example of what makes this community so fantastic to raise kids and be a family, together, and we look forward to this and other local festivals, for years to come.

We are John and Chris and we are a waiting family to adopt. We are looking for the birthmother for the adoption of our second child. We are a family of three. Sara is our daughter. We adopted her through the process of open adoption. We set up this blog in the hopes of reaching out, letting birth mothers know a little bit about who we are.

If you are a birthmother and are looking for a family waiting to adopt, consider taking your time to walk through the pages we have set up on the internet, and don’t hesitate to contact us,

John and Chris here, and we are, as so many other families, in the midst of preparation for the holiday season. Sara’s birthmother, and the open adoption experience for us has been so wonderful, we are thankful and celebrate and honor the privelege of parenting.

We hope you enjoy this photo of our family.

OK, so the snow we got today was nothing like this picture, but hey, this pic of snowfall in downtown Atlanta is eye catching. We actually had the weekend after Thanksgiving at about 70 degrees – which meant light jackets and plenty of outdoor time for the family.

Since adopting our daughter, Sara, we take these mild, blue sky Nov and Dec days with great joy and ease, just appreciating all the good time we have together, as a family, during the holidays.

Hi, we are John and Chris, and we are an adopting family. Welcome to our blog. We, like so many other families and parents, have enjoyed time with friends and family this Thanksgiving holiday, and loved the time spent with our daughter, Sara.

Our daughter, Sara, is now starting to walk, trying to form words, and generally seems to be a pretty happy and content baby. That makes us, as parents, feel like we are taking our responsibility seriously, and listening to some of the experts on best baby raising practices!

Thinking about our favorite family routine these days, we enjoy the bedtime routine with our daughter Sara… bath time and then bedtime. Fun to watch her playing in the tub. Also, we enjoy seeing her so excited to see us in the morning when she wakes up!

Adoption Quote

Came across this quote the other day. We thought that visitors to our blog may like it, too:

“There is no doubt in my mind that being adopted affects parenting in a profound way. But how it manifests itself is as idiosyncratic as each parent, as unique as each child….We can only do our best to follow our hearts, to watch both ourselves and our children with a compassionate eye, and to find out our own place on the ever-lilting balance beam of parenthood.”

Neighborhood Tradition, Family, Halloween

There’s a tradition in our neighborhood … you open your door and you get “boooed” by someone … a ghost is taped to a bag of candy that says “you’ve just been booed!”

And it’s a guessing game … who is it from?

You then put some candy in the bag, reuse the same note and ghost and quiety/secretly place it right in front of someone else’s front door and it’s passed on and on … meanwhile everyone is asking you, “did you just “boo” me?

Was that You?

Kinda fun
